Descending the hill via the public stairs that divide the Darat compound, on the left of its main entrance is The Lab. Three old warehouses were transformend by architect Ahmad Humeid into an exhibition space in 2011. With window front to Nadeem al Mallah St. The Lab is Darat's experimental space and a hub for emerging artists and innovative projects. Next to it is the residency building for visiting artists and scholars.
