The head of this clay figure was pressed in a mold, while the body was formed individually. The impression of dynamic motion results from the asymmetrical positions of the arms and legs. The Teotihuacan archaeologist Saburo Sugiyama interprets these figures as depictions of warriors armed with shields and atlatls (spear throwers).
