The artist about his work
The tensions I hone in my relationship with nature and the environment motivate the contrasts and clashes in my artwork. At times I work to the limits of my energies, forcing myself into isolation. Rather than making my situation easier or more manageable, I always refuse to resolve these tensions. Discomfort is a sign of change, and the inner turmoil is the art that binds me. This work for instance, is a result of the obsessive use of a single element, about fifty times. The reaction is deep and personal, and several questions arose from the process: What am I doing with my life? What am I doing to my environment? What am I doing to earth? To recapture our understanding of the nature of earth we must go back to direct contact with it, with its body, clinging to it with an awareness that will guarantee a full understanding of existence on its surface.
