The east side of the Reconciliation Park has four large galleries of niches, the columbaria. Built during the 1950s, they were used for burial until 2002. After the demolition of two of the six original galleries, it was decided to keep the four still standing through a public debate, evaluating its architectural and patrimonial value and artistic possibilities.
In 2009, artist Beatriz Gonzalez intervened in the columbaria with her work “Auras anónimas.” She covered the front of each of the 8,957 empty niches with an acrylic plate. Each plate has a serigraphy depicting silhouettes of people carrying the bodies of the victims of violence in the country.
