Rua Padre Adelino, 1000
Belém Metro Station
São Paulo, SP
One of the three venues of
Olafur Eliasson - Seu corpo da obra
[Your body of work]
30 September 2011 - 29 January 2012
São Paulo, Brazil
Curator: Jochen Volz
Your body of work is the first solo exhibition of Olafur Eliasson in South America. Conceived by the artist especially for, and in response to, the Brazilian city of São Paulo, the exhibition features eleven site-specific installations that invite the public to experience perception of color, spatial orientation and other forms of engagement with reality.
SESC Belenzinho has been inaugurated in December 2010. On it's 50,000 square meters it offers spaces and facilities for leisure, sports, culture, social gathering, etc.
For this venue, Olafur Eliasson created the new work Sua fogueira cósmica (Your cosmic campfire). A motor causes an aluminum, film and glass structure to rotate slowly, creating projections onto the walls of the space so that subtle, fleeting tones enable dynamic sensorial color perception mechanisms to be examined.
