Art critic and historian, curator, and freelance writer, based in Havana and Madrid. Advisor to the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City, and other international art centres. He was co-founder of the Havana Biennial (1984-1989), Curator of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York (1995-2007), and Artistic Director of PHotoEspaña in Madrid (2011-2013). He has curated numerous biennials and international exhibitions; the most recent ones: 4th Poly/Graphic Triennial of San Juan 2015, and the 3rd Today's Documents 2016, Beijing. Author and editor of numerous texts and books on contemporary art and art theory, published in different countries and languages, he is a member of the advisory board of several international journals. He has lectured on five continents. He received the Guggenheim Scholarship, New York, in 1990.
Independent historian and curator. Her main focus of interest are dialogues with socially committed art. First trained in Teaching Language and Literature, she has a degree in History and Social Sciences, as well as cultural management at the Francisco Marroquín University and the New York Foundation of Art, and attended the course on "Art & Activity: Interactive Strategies for Engaging with Art", at the Museum of Modern Art - MOMA, New York.
Freelance writer and curator based in Guatemala City and Houston. She is co-founder of the self-managed art space and residency Yvonne in Guatemala, and the Francine project in Houston. She holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2017, she received The Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant for her project www.piedrin.com. Her Mud & Blue project 2018, a series of events in Houston and Guatemala, was supported by The Idea Fund Stimulus Grant. Her art critical texts have been published in Art Forum, Artishock, Art Review, Arts & Culture Texas, Gulf Coast, and Pastelegram, among others, and her essays have been published in books, catalogues, and international monographs.

Artistic educator and psychologist. Researcher and promoter of curricular innovations in the area of visual arts for different institutions in Guatemala. Co-founder and co-director of the "Creatorio Artístico Pedagógico" (CAP), an independent artistic training program focused on emotional strengthening and the generation of healing dynamics of the social fabric. She coordinates and directs the activities of this project, with the support of artists and cultural entities of the country.
