Built in 1924, this once empty traditional Japanese thatched-roof house is now a complex that has been restored to life through pottery. The first floor is a restaurant serving food made with local ingredients in ceramic dishes made by artists. The second floor is an exhibition space for pottery comprised of three tearooms. The sunken hearth, cooking stove, sink and bath are all creations of Japan’s leading ceramic artists. With exquisite ceramics in a well-built Japanese thatched-roof house, this is a ceramic museum unlike any other, where you are surrounded by the smiles of the lively women of the village.
