Curatorial Team & Production

Artistic Director:
Akira Tatehata
Born in 1947 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan; graduated in 1972 with a degree in French Studies from the Waseda University's School of Humanities & Social Sciences. He worked for the Agency for Cultural Affairs, as researcher at the National Museum of Art, Osaka, and was Assistant Professor and Professor at the Department of Art & Science, Tama Art University. In 1990 and 1993 he was the Commissioner of the Japanese pavillion at La Biennale di Venezia. In 2001, he was one of the four Artistic Directors of the first Yokohama Triennale. He has a wide experience with international art festivals, involved as a curator at Korea's Gwangju Biennale and Busan Biennale, among other events. Since 2005, he is the Director of the National Museum of Art, Osaka.
