Exhibition HIWAR
Darat al Funun
Jebel al Weibdeh, Amman, Jordan
9 November 2013 - April 2014
Blue House
The house was built in the 1920s by Ismail Haqqi Abdo, former Governor of Akka in Palestine and later, for some time, advisor to Peake Pasha. In 1994, this building was renovated to accommodate more exhibition spaces, a hall for lectures and video film presentations, and administrative offices. A distinctive Circassian porch was added during the restoration.
HIWAR - Conversations in Amman is an exhibition, residencies, and talks program organized by Darat al Funun to celebrate 25 years of support for the arts. HIWAR brought 14 artists from the Arab world, Africa, Asia, and Latin America to Amman for residencies in September and October 2013, culminating in an exhibition in dialogue with works from The Khalid Shoman Collection.
