A performance commissioned for Sharjah Biennial 8 (2007), Non-Stop Conversation questioned the effects of modernisation on traditional architecture and human emotion. This site-specific installation and performance took place in a ruined traditional building amidst the overlapping sounds of machinery, which grew closer and closer in time until they occurred simultaneously. In her performance, Kenawy covered the remaining standing structure with a handmade quilt, which both beautified a structure long abandoned and neglected and forced it into recognition with its new pink ‘clothes’.
