The exhibition Others introduces the Biennials of Marrakech, Istanbul, and Athens to an Italian audience. Until November 2010, Palazzo Riso and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Palermo, together with the Fondazione Puglisi Cosentino in Catania, are hosting the Biennials of Marrakech, Istanbul, and Athens, which have directly and independently organized the curatorship and presentation of a creative project expressing their respective institutions and cities.
The idea of the exhibition project, initiated by Riso, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea della Sicilia, and coordinated by its artistic director Renato Quaglia, is to present other perspectives on contemporary art, other biennials of art in the homeland of the Venice Biennale, and other ways of curating and exhibiting from Morocco, Turkey, and Greece.
Built through the collaboration of Palermo, Catania, Istanbul, Marrakech, and Athens, Others has also organized a program of reciprocal residencies.
