cockle of pearl blue - to the sky, from the sky, 2016
Kosho Ito installed soft ceramic sculptures named “Tananmentai” (soft poluhedra) in the traditional Japanese garden of the Hozumike Residence (Takahagi). Those sculptures were made by hand through a process of slicing a lump of clay and shaping each one spontaneously. Each of those 3000 pieces is as unique as living beings in nature. Their multiple surfaces fired with pearl-blue color reflect and scatter the sunlight.
