Arrival

The entry into the concentration camp system meant a nightmarish loss of identity for the arriving women. Their will and personal integrity were meant to be broken through total physical and emotional subjugation. The shouting by the SS and barking of the dogs, forcing the women to speed up when undressing, the standing naked in queues, having their head and body hair shorn, degrading examinations, blue-and-white striped prisoners' clothing with a number and colored angle as a marker for the cause of imprisonment and origin - at the end of the degrading admission procedure, the women did not recognize themselves or each other.
