As a case study Armin Linke and XML analyze a number of parliament buildings situated on the new Silk Road. They ask the following questions: To what extent does the spatial model accommodate a certain mode of collective action and decision-making? How have modern technology and media been incorporated in these mostly nineteenth century buildings? And is it because of these new developments that this representative space, rooted as it is in enlightenment ideals, has become a uniformizing image? (Henk Slager)
