The camp prison, called "bunker" by the prisoners, consisted of 78 confinement cells. Here, interrogations took place as well as torture and the infliction of corporal punishment. Ravensbrück had a complex camp order, which was impossible for the women to follow. Minor offenses - sometimes merely the whim of a female guard - could result in draconian punishments, up to 50 lashes on the bare buttocks, incarceration in the camp prison, combined with food deprivation or dark detention.
