Statement
While my practice involves multiple media, my primary research focus remains printmaking. It has been my belief that printmaking is wonderfully positioned to provide a space in which crossovers between ideas, technology and process can occur. Through printmaking, I have been exploring hybrid practices, wherein the link between traditional techniques and modern technology makes the possibilities of art-making endless. Rather than being steered by a developed skill set, I begin with ideas and concepts which then guide my process towards discovering the most appropriate means and mediums of creation.
In the 50,000 project, I am working through, materially, the concepts of mobility and distance. Through this project, I am exploring the intersection between my relationship with space, producing maps based on dreams and physical or metaphorical journeys. The act of doing so creates a conversation between space and time, which has helped me take information and hypothesize a place where I can gambol, explore, and experiment.
