Statement
We are so in our heads. We are so into thinking. What we see is inescapably related to this inner world. But what is real, and what is an illusion? My work is about remembering what we already know and investigating our psychological landscape. I like how information is stored: in the brain, history, and science. Through repetition and layering, my practice bounces back and forth between the figurative and the abstract. I use brushstrokes and scratches to give intensity and translate the energy sensations and vibration of color into movement. Broad canvas, with simple compositions, try to reveal an experience of the sacred – that place where you feel connected to something bigger, where space takes over, and the mind is quiet, like in meditation. Figurative portraits and bodies emerge simultaneously, breaking through time and space, a gentle reminder of our flesh’s existence.
Archival images, old masters, psychology, neuroscience, and spirituality are sources that I use in my works. I am interested in transforming personal suffering, investigating mind patterns, and reflecting on our human condition.
