Diego Alexandre: On-Off
8 September - 3 October 2010
Centro Cultural Recoleta
Hall 10
Diego Alexandre
* Buenos Aires, Argentina; lives there.
The exhibition features large works with painted structures and portraits of young people. Glittering objects such as laserdisks, leds and keyboards are applied on most of them, intending to convey an utopian dream of total communication. The portrait subjects wear headphones and have an empty, self-contained expression.
"With these works I intend to talk about being connected, about an excess of connection. I'm not against it in principle, but I think that a state of hyperconnection leads us inevitably to total disconnection, total isolation", stated the artist.
