Colombian academic and curator, he graduated from the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, as a specialist in cultural management. Mejía also has a degree in Museology from the Reinwart Academy, Amsterdam School of Arts, The Netherlands. He is currently an adjunct curator of the Network of Caribbean Artists and in 2011, he was the director of the Atarraya curatorial team, responsible for the 14th regional salon in the Caribbean region.
Among the exhibitions he has curated are: Casa Tomada [House Taken Over], by the artist Rafael Gómez Barros, for the 11th Biennial of Havana (2012). In 2010, he was the producer of the Santa Marta chapter of the 42nd National Salon of Artists, entitled “Independientemente”, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Maldeojo Curatorial Group. He was the curator at the Museo Boliviariano de Arte Contemporáneo (1995-2010), where he curated such notable exhibitions as Pueblito 08 [Small Town 08] by Miguel Ángel Rojas (2008); Itinerarios [Itineraries] by the Cuban artists Kcho and Zaraji (2008); and Madreagua: Ecología/Arte/Comunidad, an environmental art project with the artists Óscar Leone, Germán Botero and Lynne Hull (2010). Thanks to a fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, he worked as an assistant curator in 2000 at the Reina Sofía National Museum Art Center in Madrid, Spain.
