Neighbouring the Al Hamriyah Studios studios is a recently decommissioned structure, which used to be the Old Al Diwan Al Amiri [ruler’s court]. The venue has been activated as part of this Biennial to create a spatial conversation of artistic experiments through permanent and impermanent structures.
Tracing its history to pearling families from the Lower Gulf region, Al Hamriyah is a coastal settlement nestled between the emirates of Umm Al Quwain and Ajman. It is known as a popular surfing spot as well as for its lagoon and other water-related activities. The town is home to the Hamriyah Port, a deepwater seaport for exporting products to international markets.
