Old Al Dhaid Clinic

The Biennial makes its first encounter with Al Dhaid via the cluster of buildings and spaces that used to be part of the Old Al Dhaid Clinic, one of the first modern medical facilities established in Sharjah. Structurally designed as a collection of in-patient rooms connected by an outdoor walkway, the clinic has been repurposed for the staging of artworks.

About Al Dhaid

Situated on the desert plain to the east of coastal Sharjah, Al Dhaid is an oasis town at the centre of the emirate’s hinterland that served as an important caravan crossroads in the past. Sustained by underground aquifers, seasonal wadis and mountain streams, the area is known today as an agricultural hub.
