Al Hamriyah Studios

In 2017, the Sharjah Art Foundation inaugurated Al Hamriyah Studios, an artist studio and communal exhibition complex designed by architect Khaled Al Najjar. The space, built on the site of a former vegetable souq, preserves much of its original footprint. Its central courtyard, landscaped with local greenery, provides a gathering space for artists as well as performances and outdoor film screenings. The complex also hosts exhibitions of site-specific installations and other works.

About Al Hamriyah

Tracing its history to pearling families from the Lower Gulf region, Al Hamriyah is a coastal settlement nestled between the emirates of Umm Al Quwain and Ajman. It is known as a popular surfing spot as well as for its lagoon and other water-related activities. The town is home to the Hamriyah Port, a deepwater seaport for exporting products to international markets.
