About this area

The Heritage Area is a sector of the historic city of Sharjah (Heart of Sharjah), which is being reconstructed following the original urban structure. Several old houses are already restored or were rebuilt on the wall remains. With its beautiful squares and narrow alleys, the area conveys a good impression of an old city ambience in the Gulf region.

Among the well worth seeing ensembles and buildings are: the Calligraphy Square with the Calligraphy Museum; the 200-years-old Souq Al Arsah, the oldest in the whole Emirate; the Heritage Museum, with a vivid documentation of the daily live in the region; the Bait Al Nabooda, as well as the Majlis Al-Midfaa, renowned for its unique round wind tower.
