Dan Halter
Beitbridge moonwalk. 2010
Video, 5'23", loop
Walking backwards, performers cross the bridge that separates Zimbabwe and South Africa, so as not to be noticed. The reference to the dance created by Michael Jackson underscores the irony of this work, a social, political, and cultural critique based on accounts of illegal immigrants.
