Buruburu. 2010
Two-channel video installation
Buruburu means popcorn in the African-Brazilian dialect. In Candomblé, popcorn is linked to Obaluaê, the Orisha of disease and cure. The work evokes ritual, symbolic, and ethnographic issues, and addresses the relationship between nature and cultural constructions.
