Exhibited 13 Oktober – 13 December 2004
The realization of his Palestinian identity is for Tarek Al-Ghoussein a constant in his work. Self Portrait 2 (Looking at Palestine) is part of a photo series in which he portrays himself in various places with the Palestinian scarf around his head. The scarf, which usually appears in the media as an attribute of violence, is for him rather the symbol of an ambivalent search and unfulfilled longing for the never seen homeland.
