Der Eisenwagen
UV silk screen print, 118 cm x 175 cm
Exhibited 28 October 1997 - 2 February 1998
The image, originated as an etching, belongs to the series that Nuria Quevedo created for Volker Braun's 1988 book Der Eisenwagen. 'Living with this iron certainty and against it, using it and breaking it' - These are the last words that the first-person narrator in Braun's apocalyptic vision makes up his mind. "Quevedo's works live out of this ambivalence of insisting on the pursuit of utopia and bravely accepting its possible failure," says Andreas Kaernbach."
