"Paradies"
UV silk screen print, 118 cm x 175 cm
Exhibited 8 November 2000 – 4 February 2001
The different products that Miguel Rothschild gathers in his picture all offer the same thing: the paradise. They carry the word 'paradise' in their brand name, formulating a promise that cannot be kept. "The paradisiacal accumulation," writes Helen Adkins, "reveals a mechanism of mere incantation. In Rothschild's work, paradise is revealed as an empty shell of a word, a desire to indulge in illusion."
