Water Land - Little Town Omachi
Site-specific installation
The artists miniaturised nature, seasons, animals, architectures, the lives of people and traditions of Shinano Omachi to create an installation under the concept of "fictional, tiny Omachi." The running stream makes a water passage surrounded by mountains, forests, fountains, and waterfalls. In addition, ships, watermills and buildings contribute to turn the entire work into an imaginary cityscape of Shinano Omachi. Mechanical water devices set out various tricks, inviting visitors to float a small boat on the stream to enjoy tiny Omachi. As has been proven by the history, civilisation begins on the banks of a big river. Here, a small but long river runs through the centre as an amusing art world extends around on all sides.
