Site-specific installation and community project
The air brought by winds blown from the Northern Alps rising from deep in the mountains penetrates the nostrils, forming a thin thread-like school of fish, and the violent sounds of snow-melt water overflowing from the mountains echo everywhere. As you walk a narrow passage along the Nogu River experiencing the power of the nature in Shinano Omachi, you will see a gigantic earthen wall dome with paintings on it surrounded by flowers. Kotakeman became popular during the first iteration of the festival in 2017 while engaging with local people. This time his challenge is to create a large-scale structure by hand, collecting materials to build a foundation for an earthen wall with support from the locals. Moreover, he has invested energy in building and cultivating a flower field, taking advantage of the postponement of the festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The work surrounded with flowers will bring positive energy to the community.
