In 1988, the private Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai Al-Aam, commissioned sculptor Sami Mohammad to produce a bronze statue of the country’s late Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah (1965-1977). Mohammad depicted the ruler smiling with one hand raised in greeting.
A fibreglass copy of this statue’s hand is prominently displayed in the exhibition.
