Hassan Sharif (* 1951, Dubai, United Arab Emirates) is regarded as a pioneer contemporary artist in the Gulf region. Since the early seventies, he has been developing a complex and prolific body of works in many different media including caricatures, performances and experiments, objects and paintings.
He has exhibited in the UAE and in different countries, and has participated in several editions of the Sharjah Biennial, and in the Venice Biennale in 2009. His works are included in the permanent collections of the Art Museum in Sharjah, Mathaf (Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha) as well as in private collections in the UAE and abroad.
This book published by Cantz and ADACH is the first monographic publication dedicated to the artist, following the exhibition organized by ADACH in Abu Dhabi:
