Two bursaries to the Instituto Sacatar are awarded annually through the UNESCO/Aschberg bursary program, one for a visual artist and one for a musician/composer to produce new work and to interact with the dynamic culture of Bahia, Brazil.
These bursaries are restricted to artists from 25 to 35 years old, born and living in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Russia, the former Soviet Republics, Australia, New Zealand and/or the Pacific Islands.
The bursary includes, among other things: roundtrip airfare, a two-month stay (24 October - 19 December 2011) at the Sacatar estate on the island of Itaparica, logistical support.
