Art for Palestine. 31 Oct. - 15 Nov. 2008, The Mosaic Rooms, A.M. Qattan Foundation, London.
Nov 2008Organized by UK Palestine Solidarity Campaign in association with the A.M. Qattan Foundation, the exhibition features over 100 paintings, drawings, photographs, prints and sculpture by artists from Palestine, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, China and the UK. It profiles the work of artists across the generations from all parts of historic Palestine, including two groups of young artists in the Gaza strip (the Eltiqa’ Group and Windows from Gaza). They are joined by young artists of Palestinian descent from Jordan, and senior Palestinian artists Nabil Anani, Sliman Mansour and Vera Tamari.
The exhibition also features work by internationally renowned artists who have donated their works to be sold and shown alongside their Palestinian colleagues, including Jake & Dinos Chapman, Antony Gormley, and Mona Hatoum. Proceeds from sales will go the exhibiting artists in Palestine and towards funding PSC's campaigns in the UK to raise awareness of human rights for the Palestinian people.
