For an ongoing series of sculptures, Favaretto pours concrete into rectangular pedestal-like moulds and, as it sets, pushes her body into the wet material in different passive and aggressive poses. Among those shown here, one was made by the artist plunging her fists into the concrete. For another, she grabbed the edges of the mold, simultaneously bracing herself and trying to pry the framework apart. A final work indexes her leaning patiently on her forearms as if in prayer, waiting for the concrete to dry. The resulting monoliths commemorate Favaretto’s efforts, boredom, and ultimate exhaustion.
