Built between 1885 and 1909 in a Neo-classical architectural style for the education of Greek children in Istanbul. Due to the decrease of the Greek population, especially from the 1960s onwards, the school closed in 1988 and then again in 2007.
The building has been used several times as a venue of the Istanbul Biennial and other art events.
