Drawings, items from the collection of the Ethnological Museum Berlin, IXIPTLA journal, 3 metal structures, plaster replicas
Castillo Deball studies the Mesoamerican Archeology room at the Ethnologisches Museum in Dahlem, experimenting with techniques used to capture the archaeological remnants such as plaster molds, facsimiles, and prints. The artist presents an installation that includes sculptures, drawings, prints, and display structures, together with a series of plaster copies of museum items, which were made in collaboration with the Gipsformerei (Replica Workshop) in Berlin. Some of those items no longer exist as originals because they were destroyed or disappeared during World War II.
