Palazzo Ducale
The Doge’s Palace was the residence of the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, it was transformed into a museum in 1923.

Left of the Porta della Carta, on the corner to the Basilica of St Mark, there is a porphyry sculpture group of four Roman emperors. Dating from the 4th Cent., it is probably originally part of the decorations of the Philadelphion in Constantinople.
