Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Venezia

The National Archaeology Museum of Venice dates back to sixteenth-century bequests left by Domenico and Giovanni Grimani, curators of the Venetian Republic’s precious Statuario (Statue Collection).

It occupies a number of rooms on the piano nobile (first floor) of the Procuratie Nuove, between the Correr Museum and the Biblioteca Marciana. Along with some original Greek works of major importance, the collection houses bronzes, ceramics, jewels and coins, in addition to the Egyptian and Assyrian-Babylonian antiquities from the original Correr collection of archaeological material.
