Souk Al Arsah (Courtyard Souk) is one of the oldest market places in the UAE and was the gathering place for traders from the Arabian Gulf and across the Indian Ocean.
The 'Arsah' is a large open space (courtyard) in between residential areas.
Rebuilt with local material and in its old design, the souk reopened in 1995. Its small stores sell local, new and antique handicrafts, wooden Arabic bridal and pearl chests, copper coffee pots, handmade jewellery, perfume bottles and incense, handmade woven garments, palm-leaf baskets, medicinal herbs, carpets, shawls, souveniers, etc.
