Independent, UAE-based initiative established to manage, preserve and exhibit the personal art collection of Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, contributing to the intellectual development of the art scene in the Gulf region.
Through in-house exhibitions, international artwork loans, print and online publications and interactive public programmes, as well as through collaborations with educational institutions, museums and cultural initiatives, the Barjeel Art Foundation strives to become an informative resource for contemporary art from the Arab world and its diaspora, both locally and internationally.
The exhibition space of the Barjeel Art Foundation is located on the second level of the Maraya Art Centre in Al Qasba, on the Al Majaz Canal between the Al Khan and Khalid Lagoons. The 475-square-metre space showcases the Barjeel collection, presenting the artworks in rotating curated exhibitions, with different themes of political, social and cultural relevance to the Arab world.
