Paper mosaics for kids & grown-ups

Instructions and printouts for making paper mosaics with materials usually find at home. The models are mosaics from Jordan. They were made of stones in the Byzantine period more than 1,500 years ago. Nowadays, Jordanian artisans continue this tradition and create beautiful mosaics for sale.

Our examples of mosaics come from various archaeological sites in Jordan. The links lead to photos and information about the motifs and places.

Print out the PDF with the mosaic model, stick both sheets together
Cut small squares and triangles from old packages or magazines
Glue the paper tiles on the model leaving a small gap between each other
Your paper tiles can be larger than the ones on the model, tweezers also help
