Petra Tour: Ad Deir (Monastery)
The monumental rock façade in a magnificent mountain landscape is one of Petra's highlights. On the plateau there are further rock structures worth seeing, such as chambers, cult niches, sacrificial places, cisterns.

The cult hall in the rocky outcrop opposite Ad Deir is about 15 m long and 9 m wide. A niche measuring 3 x 4.50 m with an aedicula was carved into the rear wall, in the middle of which a figure probably stood. Unfortunately, the wall is severely damaged by modern graffiti.
In the two side panels directly below the pediment, two unfortunately also heavily damaged busts with cornucopia can be seen.
On the right wall, about 2.70 m from the entrance, the rest of a pilaster with a decorated capital protrudes from the wall at the top. The pendant on the opposite side was still there at the beginning of the 20th century, but has since disappeared.
