Above the doorway which leads into the apodyterium is a large scene filling the tympanum of the vault. It shows an Eros pointing in the direction of a figure whose chin rests on his right hand in a contemplative mood. He is contemplating an enigmatic figure, a body under cover or a corpse wrapped in a winding sheet. This scene might bring to mind the story of Ariadne who was discovered by Dionysus on the island of Naxos.
