In July 1982 in Queens, New York, Zurita wrote the poem La Vida Nueva (New Life) using five airplanes that drew with white smoke the letters on the blue sky. The poem was written in Spanish as a tribute to the Spanish-speaking population in the United States: Chicanos, Latinos, and by extension, to the marginalized and segregated people from all over the world. Traced at 5000 meters height, each of the 15 sentences measured 5 to 7 kilometers, so they would be seen from many places of the city. The visual artist Juan Downey made the film record of this writing, and the photographs were taken by Ana Maria López and Leonel Cid. This material is part of the book Anteparaíso, published in November of that year.
Edition produced by FLORA and taller Arte Dos Gráfico.
