Materia (Matter), an exhibition bringing together 16 artists from countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, is defined by the meeting of sensitivities around the sinister, the organic, the extreme, the ironic, the idyllic, and the intimate. The encounter of different tensions, occasionally in the same artwork, establishes tensional fields that cross both the popular culture and the history of representation. The references to local places and particular situations, which would be part of a micro-politics, intersect with fictions and introspective images. The persistence of memory, embodied in organic forms, cut across the urgency of the present, determined by the human presence.
