The building of the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá was designed by the famous Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona (1929-2007). The first phase of construction was inaugurated in1979 and concluded in 1985.
On an area of approximately 5.300 m2, and on four levels, it has six exhibition halls, a photography hall, two sculpture courtyards, auditorium, project rooms and workshops, storage area, library, bookshop, restaurant, and administrative offices.
The collection of MAMBO encompasses more than 4.000 works by important Colombian and international artists.
