Presidential Chair and Drainage Tube. 2020
Installation
According to Fernando Arias, "This work evokes the peak of power; it is the representation of the power that is oppressing us and telling us how to live. I decided to do this exhibition so that the masses would come to the MAMBO to see their president's chair, where he takes decisions. That chair is connected to a drainpipe, a pipe that flushes away the effects of his mandates.
With the writings on the walls: "Mierda de país, pas de mierda. La pas este con losotros, la pas este con losotros" (2019), Arias plays on words and intentionally sends a message with misspellings to denounce and criticize the ignorance of the Colombian population in the face of the hierarchies imposed by the powers-that-be.
