Quebrada de Humahuaca

They are located less than 1 km from the town of Huacalera, marking the point where the Tropic of the southern hemisphere passes at a latitude of 23º 26' 17" south of the Equator. On this imaginary line the sun rays fall vertically on the ground when the solstice occurs between December 21 and 22. The monolith in the backround is a sundial.
