Antigonus I Monophthalmos (the One-Eyed, c. 382 - 301 BC) was a general of Alexander the Great and, after his death (323 BC), one of the most powerful Diadochi (successors). At one point he ruled the entire Asian part of the disintegrated Empire of Alexander, which he wanted to reunite under his leadership. His main opponents were Seleucus in Babylonia and Ptolemy, who ruled Egypt and with whom Antigonus fought over Phoenicia, among other things.
